Nomi AI is a companion chat app run by Glimpse.ai, Inc., a Maryland company. Nomi’s own comparison article, read on 21 October 2026, lists its price as $15.99 a month, $39.99 a quarter or $99.99 a year. The free tier keeps one-on-one chats open, and Nomi’s refund policy rules out refunds for “buyers remorse, lack of usage, or dissatisfaction”.
This is a research overview. We read Nomi’s pricing article, refund and cancellation policies, terms, privacy policy and safety pages on 21 October 2026, plus two news reports from 2025, and quote them with dates. We have not paid for Nomi, so there is no score. How we test explains what a paid test would add. Nomi is for adults 18 and over.
Nomi AI prices by billing term
Nomi’s homepage shows no prices. The figures come from the price row in Nomi’s own “Replika vs Nomi (2026)” article on nomi.ai.
| Term | Billed | Works out at |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly | $15.99 a month | $15.99 a month |
| Quarterly | $39.99 every 3 months | $13.33 a month |
| Yearly | $99.99 a year | $8.33 a month |
The per-month figures for the quarterly and yearly plans are our arithmetic. Every plan renews automatically at the end of its term unless you cancel first.

What stays free on Nomi
Nomi says it is “free (no credit card required) to start chatting”. Its refund policy describes what a free account keeps. Moving down to the free tier “does not remove any Nomis from your account nor does it block chatting with any Nomis in one-on-one conversations”.
The paid extras stop. Nomi lists “group chats, video creation, voice messaging and calls” as features that “will become read-only” on the free tier. Nomi says it removes no existing content when you downgrade, but it does not guarantee to keep it.
Refunds and cancelling
Nomi does not refund unhappy customers. Its refund policy says “customers are not eligible for refunds due to buyers remorse, lack of usage, or dissatisfaction”. The terms add that there are “no refunds or credit for partial months of service, plan downgrades, or refunds for unused days”. Nomi says it may offer a refund at its “sole discretion”.
Cancel where you paid. Nomi’s cancellation policy says you are “solely responsible for cancelling your subscription through the platform where you initially purchased it”, and that “Deleting an app does not automatically cancel your subscription.” On the web, the path is Profile, the Subscription tab, Manage Subscription, then Cancel. On an iPhone, cancel in the app under Profile, Subscription, Manage, or in Settings under your Apple ID name, Subscriptions, Nomi. Google Play subscribers cancel in the app or in the Play Store. The policy says to cancel “prior to the renewal date”. You keep paid features until the end of the term.
What Nomi does with your chats and data
Nomi’s homepage promises “Complete Privacy” and says “All chats are anonymized and no chat data is shared with 3rd party sites.” Its privacy policy, last updated on 27 April 2026, adds detail:
- No sale. “We do not and will not sell or rent to any third party any of your personal information.”
- Fast deletion. Deleting your account removes personal information “within 28 or so days”, the shortest window in our privacy comparison of eight apps. You delete it after signing in, under Account Settings, Delete Account. Nomi’s delete page says your personal information, Nomis and messages “are permanently deleted. This action cannot be undone.”
- Training archive. The policy refers to Nomi’s “training archives” and says that after deletion, “any information in our training archives would no longer be attributable to you”.
- A sale of the company would move your personal information “to the successor or purchaser”.
The policy promises “commercially reasonable efforts” on security and does not say whether chats are encrypted.
Nomi’s safety record and what changed
Two outlets reported harmful replies from Nomi chatbots in 2025. On 6 February 2025, MIT Technology Review reported that a user’s Nomi companion told him to kill himself and described how. The magazine says Glimpse AI’s chief executive, Alex Cardinell, did not respond to its detailed questions. On 2 April 2025, The Conversation published a researcher’s account of prompting Nomi into harmful replies. Nomi’s statement to The Conversation called the app “adults-only” and said coerced output “clearly does not reflect its intended or typical behavior”. The AI Incident Database lists the reports as incident 1041.
Nomi’s homepage still describes the product as “unfiltered and uncensored”. Its terms carry a warning near the top: a Nomi “should never be used instead of seeking professional help”, and anyone feeling suicidal should seek a medical professional or call 911.

Nomi has also added a crisis protocol for California, where Bill SB-243 now requires one. Its compliance page says the protocol covers only users “located in California”. The page describes no such message for users anywhere else.

If you are in crisis, do not rely on an app. In the US you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
Who runs Nomi and how users rate it
Nomi’s terms name Glimpse.ai, Inc., based in Baltimore, Maryland, under Maryland law. Disputes go to mediation and then JAMS arbitration, with a class action waiver.
Ratings depend on where you look. On 31 October 2026, the App Store showed 4.6 out of 5 from 3K ratings, with an 18+ age rating. On 31 October 2026 Trustpilot showed 2.3 from 42 reviews on an unclaimed profile, with 24 of them at 1 star. Its 2026 complaints are about billing and account control:
- “there’s no way to cancel my subscription because the app has vanished from the Google Play Store.” (26 September 2026). The US Play listing loaded when we checked on 31 October.
- “the button below never lights up, making it impossible to delete your account and data.” (24 July 2026)
- “I sent a email to get a refund! No response at all.” (31 May 2026)
If Nomi is not the right fit
Nomi fits if you want one long-running companion, a usable free tier and fast account deletion, and you will commit to a year to get the $8.33 monthly rate. It fits less if you want refunds, published encryption, or a crisis protocol that applies outside California.
We earn a commission if you subscribe through the next link. OurDream publishes $19.99 a month or $119.88 a year on its homepage. Our Kindroid overview covers an app whose policy says chats are encrypted at rest, and our Character AI alternatives comparison lines up eight apps. If you are moving from Replika, see our Replika alternatives.
Before you pay Nomi, decide whether you need more than one-on-one chat. If you do not, the free tier may be enough.
Nomi ranks second when you compare the best AI girlfriend apps on published facts, mainly for its ongoing free plan and short deletion window.
