Junipero AI is free to start, and its three paid plans cost $9.99, $19.99 and $49.99 a month on junipero.ai, according to the pricing page we read on 3 November 2026. The same page says that once you pay, “you give up your 14-day right to cancel for a refund,” and the terms add that “all sales are final”. Junipero is a web, iPhone and Android app for chat and roleplay with AI characters, run by a sole trader registered in Romania.
This is a research overview. On 3 November 2026 we read Junipero’s homepage, pricing page, support FAQ, terms of service, privacy policy, sub-processor list and content guidelines, plus both US app store listings. We have not paid for Junipero, so this page gives no score and no verdict on how well its characters write. How we test explains what a paid test would add. Junipero pays us nothing. Who runs Junipero
Junipero’s terms name the operator in section 1: “a product operated by MARINESCU DRAGOS - PAUL PERSOANA FIZICA AUTORIZATA”. A persoană fizică autorizată (PFA) is the Romanian legal form for one person trading in their own name, so an individual stands behind the brand rather than a limited company. The privacy policy names the same PFA as data controller, and the US App Store lists it as the seller. On Google Play the developer shows as “JuniperoAI”.
Romanian law governs the terms. EU, EEA and UK users keep their home-country consumer protections and may sue at home or in Bucharest. The support address is contact@junipero.ai.
Junipero describes itself on its support page as “an AI chat and AI roleplay app for web, iOS and Android”. You talk to characters made by the community, play scenarios, or type one sentence and let Junipero draft a new character. The terms allow “romance, intimacy, and adult themes within strict content limits” and state that Junipero does not generate pornographic or hardcore images.
Junipero prices on the web and the App Store
Junipero publishes its full price list on junipero.ai/pricing. The table compares the web pricing page with the US App Store list of in-app purchases, both read on 3 November 2026.

The yearly Infinity plan costs $5 more through Apple ($99.99) than on the web ($94.99). Junipero’s terms warn that “Pricing may vary by region and by platform,” so check the price at checkout. The web page advertises “save up to 21%” on yearly billing.
Each plan adds features on top of the one below:
- Infinity adds Willow, Junipero’s flagship roleplay model, with no cap under fair use, plus 1.5 times the free memory, lorebooks and video clips.
- Infinity+ adds Story Mode (illustrated panels of your story), voice calls, group chats with up to 5 characters and twice the free memory.
- Infinity Max adds Deep Memory, no slowdowns, 1,000 Aurora messages, 200 Solstice messages, 300 voice minutes and 100 Story Mode panels a month.
What Junis pay for
Junis are Junipero’s in-app currency for the costly features. The support page lists these prices in Junis on 3 November 2026:
- An image or selfie costs 3 Junis on a paid plan and 4 on the free plan.
- A 5-second video costs 25 Junis and is made on the web version only.
- A reply read aloud costs 1 to 7 Junis, depending on length. In a voice call each spoken reply costs 1.5 times as much, up to 11 Junis.
- Story Mode costs 2 Junis per panel on Infinity+.
- Premium models on Infinity cost 0.25 Junis a message (Onyx), 0.5 (Sable) or 1 (Vesper, Juniper). On Infinity+ and Max they cost nothing, except Aurora (1 Juni a message) and Solstice (Max only, 1.5 Junis after 200 included messages).
At the App Store pack price of $8.99 for 100 Junis, one Juni costs about 9 cents, so a paid-plan image works out to about 27 cents. The 300-Juni pack brings that down to about 23 cents. Plan Junis stop building up at 1,000, while bought Junis have no cap. Section 8.2 of the terms says Junis “have no cash value” and that you lose them when your account is deleted.
The free plan and its slow mode
Junipero’s free plan has no message cap, and it slows down after heavy use. The support FAQ says your first 75 messages each day run at full speed. After that each reply waits 5 seconds up to 125 messages, 10 seconds up to 200, then 15 seconds. The count resets daily.
Free accounts chat on Ember, the starter model. The first 30 messages use Juniper, one of the premium models, at no cost, and new accounts get 10 Junis to try images or voice. The homepage says you can start a story with no account at all.
Age rules and what the two app stores say
Junipero’s terms set the age at 18: “You must be at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to use Junipero.” The privacy policy says you give your age when you set up your profile and “cannot continue if you are under 18”. Neither document describes an ID or face check. Section 4.6 of the terms adds that Junipero “cannot be held responsible for any inaccuracies or misrepresentations regarding user age.”
The app stores disagree with each other. On 3 November 2026:
- The US App Store rated Junipero 18+ for “Frequent Mature or Suggestive Themes”, with 4.6 stars from 5 ratings, version 2.1.1.
- Google Play rated the same app Teen, “Diverse Content: Discretion Advised”, with 3.0 stars from 14 reviews and 1K+ downloads.
Junipero’s content guidelines require every character to be 18 or older and ban minor-coded characters. Its public character catalogue still listed characters who are minors in their source works when we read it on 3 November 2026, and you should know that before you sign up.
Where your chats go and how long Junipero keeps them
Junipero sends your chats to outside AI companies. The privacy policy says recent messages, the character definition, your persona, story summaries and memories go to “third-party AI service providers” with “a random account identifier, not your name or email address”. The sub-processor page, last updated 24 September 2026, places those providers in “the United States, the European Union, Asia and other regions” but names none of them.
The privacy policy makes four statements about that data:
- “We do not train our own AI models on your conversations, characters, voice or images.” The AI providers may keep content “for a limited time for abuse monitoring”.
- Voice messages become text, and Junipero says it keeps “only the text”, not the recording.
- “We do not sell your personal data,” and Junipero does not share it with advertisers for targeted ads.
- The main database is hosted in the European Union.
Humans can read chats in some cases. Junipero’s team “may review conversations, characters or images when content is flagged or reported”. Analytics stay off until you accept them in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, but “elsewhere they may be on by default”. The security section lists encryption in transit, access controls and limited staff access, and it does not mention encryption at rest.
Junipero keeps your data while your account is active. After you delete the account, “residual copies” can stay in backups “for a limited period”, with no number of days given. Characters you published stay public, unlinked from you, unless you delete them first. An account inactive for more than 12 months may be closed and its data deleted. Refunds, cancelling and the arbitration clause
Junipero refunds almost nothing. Section 8.7 of the terms says “all sales are final” and rules out refunds for unused time, unused Junis, dissatisfaction or a change of mind. EU, EEA and UK buyers give up the 14-day withdrawal right once the service starts, and the pricing page says so in its footer.
Purchases made in the app go through Apple or Google, and their refund rules apply. Junipero’s privacy policy says that when you ask them for a refund, it may tell them “whether we prefer the refund to be granted”.
Cancelling stops the next renewal and keeps your plan until the paid period ends. Where you cancel depends on where you paid:
- On the web, open your account menu and choose “Manage subscription”.
- On iPhone, cancel in your Apple ID subscription settings.
- On Android, cancel in Google Play.
Deleting your account does not stop an app store subscription. The privacy policy is plain about it, and the support page adds that deleting the account cancels a web plan “immediately without a refund”.
US users agree to binding individual arbitration under American Arbitration Association consumer rules and waive class actions. You can opt out within 30 days of first accepting the terms. Email Junipero with the subject line “Arbitration Opt-Out”, your full name, your account email and a clear statement that you opt out.
Before you pay for Junipero
Junipero suits an adult who wants long, story-led roleplay with editable memory and who reads the Junis prices first. Skip it if you want a refund window, because the web plans give none. Skip it too if you want to know which AI companies read your chats, since Junipero’s public pages do not name them.
If you try it, pay on the web rather than in the App Store for the yearly Infinity plan to save $5. Opt out of arbitration in the first 30 days if that matters to you, and cancel any App Store plan before you delete the account.
