Character.AI filed for Chapter 11 on 12 October 2026 and says the platform will be wound down if no buyer keeps it running (full story and export steps). If you are an adult looking for somewhere else to go, we picked seven adult companion apps that cover the main ways people used Character.AI, and compared what each publishes about price, free access, who runs it and what it does with your chats.

Prices are what each app showed publicly on 18 October 2026, in US dollars. Kindroid’s help centre lists higher prices for app-store purchases ($15.99 a month). Nomi’s prices come from its own comparison article, published in July 2026. Prices change often, so check before you pay.
If you want lots of characters, like Character.AI
SpicyChat works the way most Character.AI users are used to. Its homepage is a library of characters made by other users, and you can make your own. It has three paid tiers at $5.95, $19.95 and $29.95 a month, and a free tier. Its privacy policy was last updated on 4 May 2023 and does not mention chats at all.
CrushOn also opens on a library of user-made characters. Its pricing page leads with annual plans: $58.88 a year for 2,000 message credits a month, or $94.88 for 6,000. Free accounts get 100 credits a month. Its privacy policy says it may use chats to train AI models. The mobile app also lets third parties collect device data for targeted ads.
If you want one companion that remembers you
Nomi centres on one long relationship and markets its memory. Its policy says deleting your account removes your personal information within about 28 days. That is the shortest window we found.
Kindroid is the most privacy-forward on paper. It says chats are encrypted at rest and in transit, and that it reads them only when a safety system flags them or the law requires it. Its data table does not list chats among the data it uses to improve the service. Paid plans start at $13.99 a month on the web, with add-on tiers above that.
Replika says it uses small, anonymised parts of messages to train its own safety filters, never third-party language models. Prices appear only inside the app.
If you want images and video built in
OurDream includes image and video generation in both plans, plus 1,000 “dreamcoins” a month. The monthly plan is $19.99. The yearly plan works out to $9.99 a month but is billed $119.88 upfront. Its policy says it trains its models on user data. Visit OurDream.
Candy AI hides prices until you sign up. Its terms say a subscription includes about 100 tokens a month for extras such as images, and unused tokens expire when the subscription ends. Refund requests must be made within 24 hours. We break down its documents in Is Candy AI safe?

What we cannot tell you yet
We cannot yet tell you which app holds a character best, which remembers a conversation from last week, or which pushes you hardest to buy tokens. Those are the parts of our hands-on test: seven days on a plan we buy, 10 planted facts checked after 24 hours and 7 days, and the same three conversations on every app. Each app gets a score once its test is done, and this page will turn into a ranking.
Moving your characters
None of these apps imports Character.AI data. Once your export arrives, open it, copy each character’s description, personality and greeting, and recreate the character by hand. Do it soon, because the download link expires 7 days after the email arrives.
