Clonella (clonella.com) sells AI companion chat with no subscription: on 3 November 2026 its pricing page offered four credit packs from $5 for 20 credits to $99.99 for 1,000, and said chat is free. Credits pay for images (1 credit), videos (15 credits) and new characters, including a model built from uploaded photos for 70 credits. The same page also carries a second, different list of packs, and the link labelled “Privacy Policy” opened an error message instead of a policy.
This page is desk research. On 3 November 2026 we read Clonella’s homepage, pricing page, terms of service and privacy link while logged out, and checked Product Hunt, the US App Store, Google Play and Have I Been Pwned. We have not signed up or paid, so we give no score and say nothing about how the chats read. How we test explains what a paid test would add. Clonella pays us nothing. The images on this page link to Candy AI, which pays us a commission.
Two price lists on one Clonella page
Clonella’s visible pack cards and the text summary at the top of the same pricing page disagree. We read both on 3 November 2026.
| Pack | Pack cards (visible) | Text summary on the same page |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | $5 for 20 credits ($0.25 each) | $20 for 100 credits |
| Standard | $20 for 100 credits ($0.20 each) | not listed |
| Pro | $49.99 for 400 credits ($0.12 each) | $50 for 400 credits |
| Power | $99.99 for 1,000 credits ($0.10 each) | $100 for 1,000 credits |
| A new character | 1 credit from scratch, 70 credits from photos | “Create your first AI model for 70 credits” |
The gap is small in dollars. The naming matters more: “Starter” means a $5 pack on the cards and a $20 pack in the summary. Treat the card on the checkout screen as the price, and check the credit count before you pay. The summary also says you can “Pay with card or crypto.”

What a Clonella credit buys
Chat costs nothing on Clonella’s price list: the pricing page shows “Chat · unlimited” as free, and the homepage promises “Unlimited FREE chat” plus “3 FREE images on signup”. Credits pay for the rest:
- an image: 1 credit
- a video: 15 credits
- a new character built from scratch: 1 credit
- a new character trained on uploaded photos: 70 credits
Per credit, the bigger packs cost less. A 15-credit video works out to $3.75 on the Starter pack and $1.50 on the Power pack, by our arithmetic. The $5 Starter pack holds 20 credits, which is not enough for a 70-credit photo model.

The pricing page names no monthly plan, and its badge reads “No subscription, ever”. That makes Clonella different from most apps in our NSFW AI chat app comparison, which bill weekly, monthly or yearly.
Photo models and Clonella’s consent rule
Clonella’s name points at its photo feature. The homepage offers “Upload Photos: Clone anyone from your images” next to “Create from Scratch”, and the pricing page prices a “custom photo upload” model at 70 credits.
Clonella’s own terms limit that feature to people who agree. Section 2 says the service “is not designed or permitted for the generation, imitation, or reproduction of real persons’ images, voices, or identities without explicit consent.”

The terms go further in sections 3 and 6:
- Banned outright: “Any content involving minors” and “Celebrity models without proper authorization”.
- Uploads of “Images of individuals without their explicit written consent” are prohibited.
- Clonella may audit uploads and ask for “proof of ownership or consent upon request.”
- Breaking the rules can mean account termination and “Reporting to relevant authorities”.
The rule puts the legal risk on the uploader. Under section 4, you confirm you “have obtained explicit consent from any identifiable individuals featured in your content” and “accept full legal responsibility”.
Clonella’s privacy link showed an error page
We could not read a Clonella privacy policy on 3 November 2026. The footer link “Privacy Policy” pointed to clonella.com/privacy, which returned HTTP 200 but displayed “Character not found. The character you’re looking for doesn’t exist or has been removed.” A plain download of the same URL held no policy text either.
That leaves open questions the policy would normally answer: how long Clonella keeps chats and uploaded photos, who processes them, and how to delete an account. The terms we read have no section on data retention or account deletion. The homepage claims “Complete Privacy” and “End-to-end secure”, and we found no document that explains either phrase.
Have I Been Pwned listed no Clonella breach on 3 November 2026. That only means no breach has been reported to that service. Our AI girlfriend app privacy comparison shows how apps that do publish a policy word their retention and deletion rules.
Refunds, ID checks and the 14-day window
Clonella’s terms make credit purchases final, with two exceptions. Section 7 says payments “are non-refundable, except in cases of” double billing or technical errors, and “Failure to provide the intended service.” A refund request must arrive “within 14 days of purchase.” Accounts closed for breaking the terms get nothing back.
Section 6 adds an ID check for photo models. If Clonella questions a model, “you will be required to provide additional proof and complete KYC (Know Your Customer) verification”, and refusing can close the account “with no refunds.” Credits bought for that account would go with it.
The terms set the minimum age at 18: “You must be at least 18 years old to use this service.” The logged-out homepage and pricing page showed no age prompt on 3 November 2026. We did not sign up, so we cannot say what checks happen at registration.
Who runs Clonella
Clonella does not name its company on the pages we read. Section 13 of the terms says the site “is operated by a registered legal entity”, gives “Registration number: 3092507”, and says the registered address is “Available upon request through support channels”. It names no country, and section 10 sets governing law as “the applicable laws of the relevant jurisdiction”.
Clonella’s Product Hunt listing names Planet AI Lab on its launch team and carried 1 upvote and no reviews on 3 November 2026.
The homepage shows “Users 1.16M+”, “2M+ conversations daily” and a “4.9 App Rating”. We found no Clonella app to match that rating: a US App Store search and a Google Play search for “clonella” returned no Clonella listing on 3 November 2026. Clonella runs in the browser at clonella.com.
Before you buy Clonella credits
Start with the $5 Starter pack if you try Clonella at all, because its terms refund almost nothing and its privacy policy was unreadable when we checked. Confirm the credit count on the checkout screen, since the pricing page carries two lists. Do not upload photos of anyone who has not agreed in writing, which Clonella’s own terms require.
If you would rather pay for an app that publishes its plans and policies in full, our Candy AI review covers its prices, refunds and privacy rules from the company’s own pages. Candy AI is one option. Affiliate link: we may earn a commission at no cost to you.
