Kindroid no longer has an ongoing free plan. Its subscriptions help page, updated on 30 October 2026, gives new accounts a one-time preview of 50 messages, 5 selfies and up to 2 Kindroids, after which “your account becomes read-only”. Its website shows no prices, but its US App Store listing does: $15.99 a month, $42.99 for 3 months and $159.99 a year. Its privacy policy says chats are “encrypted at rest and in transit” and that Kindroid is not end-to-end encrypted.
This is a research overview. We read Kindroid’s help centre, terms and privacy policy and its app store listings on 21 October 2026, re-checked them on 31 October 2026, and quote them with dates. We have not paid for Kindroid, so there is no score. How we test explains what a paid test would add. Kindroid is for adults 18 and over, and the App Store rates it 18+.
What changed: a preview, then read-only
Kindroid replaced its free tier with a one-time preview. A new account gets “50 messages with standard paid memory (15 in some regions)”, 5 selfies, 5,000 audio credits and up to 2 Kindroids. Free accounts that already existed got “50 final messages” if they were recently active. Inactive ones went straight to read-only.
When the preview runs out, the account keeps everything but can no longer talk. Kindroid says read-only accounts “can’t send messages, regenerate, make calls, or receive proactive messages.” You can still view, export and delete your chats.

The preview is single-use. Starting a trial or subscription “ends the preview permanently. It doesn’t come back after cancelling, and deleting your account doesn’t reset it.”
Each stage of a Kindroid account
| Stage | What you get | What ends it |
|---|---|---|
| New-account preview | 50 messages (15 in some regions), 5 selfies, 5,000 audio credits, up to 2 Kindroids | Using it up, or starting a trial |
| 3-day premium trial | Most subscriber perks; 150,000 audio credits at start | Converts to a paid plan unless cancelled; needs a payment method on file |
| Subscription | Newest models, longer memory, 10 Kindroids and 20 group chats, voice and video calls, selfies | Cancelling; access lasts to the end of the paid term |
| Ultra and MAX add-ons | More memory and context, billed monthly on top | Cancelling each add-on separately |
| Read-only | View, play back, export and delete | Subscribing again |
Kindroid prices: on the App Store, not the website
Kindroid sells 1-month, 3-month and 1-year plans and says “Longer plans cost less per month”. Its website publishes no figures. Its help centre says: “You’ll see the exact price for your country and platform at checkout.” It adds that buying on the web “is usually cheaper than through the App Store or Google Play”. The US App Store listing does show prices: the Subscription at $15.99, 3 months at $42.99, Yearly at $159.99, Ultra at $28.99 and MAX at $68.99.
Two offers are documented. The 3-day trial needs a card on file and “auto converts into a subscription if not cancelled within the trial period”. During the trial, chats run on the Ember model, and Kindroid emails you a day before the trial converts. Trials started on the web also need a verified mobile phone number. If your subscription lapses for the first time, Kindroid “may” offer “50% off your first month” when you return, once.
Ultra and MAX sit on top of the standard plan, each billed monthly. MAX needs Ultra, and Kindroid limits both to users with “significant interaction history”.
Voice, selfies and slots cost extra
Paid audio credits come in packs of 500,000. Kindroid says it sells them at breakeven and lists how far a pack goes. On the V2 voice that is about 500 minutes of speech. On V3 it drops to about 333 minutes, and on V4 to about 286.

On the US App Store, an audio pack costs $14.99. Selfie credits come in packs of 50 ($6.99) or 100 ($11.49), and extra Kindroid slots in packs of 1 ($3.49) or 4 ($11.49). You need an active subscription or trial to buy any of them, and Kindroid’s help centre says refunds are not available for in-app purchases.
Cancelling Kindroid
On the web, cancel at Profile, Billing, Kindroid Standard Subscription, Manage. Ultra and MAX have their own entries and must be cancelled separately. If you subscribed in the App Store or Google Play, cancel there.
Kindroid’s terms say plans renew “at the then-current non-promotional rate”, so a discounted first month renews at full price. Cancelling keeps access to the end of the term, with no prorated refund. Kindroid’s subscriptions page adds that it generally does not offer refunds, that all sales are final and that it decides requests case by case. It also warns that it may permanently ban users who dispute charges with their bank. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription.
Switching plans depends on where you paid. The web changes plans at once with a prorated charge. iOS switches at the next billing date. On Android you have to let the plan run out, then subscribe again at the new interval.
What Kindroid does with your chats
Kindroid’s privacy policy, effective 29 October 2026, says chats are “encrypted at rest and in transit”. It also says “Kindroid is not end-to-end encrypted”, because its systems process each chat to write replies and automated safety systems scan content. Support staff “cannot browse your chats”. Kindroid decrypts content for human review only when its safety systems flag it, when you ask (in a moderation appeal) or when the law requires it.

The policy’s data table lists chat content only for “Providing the Services”, and neither the policy nor the terms mention training models on chats. The terms do let Kindroid “de-identify and/or aggregate your Private User Content” and “freely use such de-identified and/or aggregated content for any purpose”. Kindroid keeps “your chat conversation and generated media until you delete a specific AI or delete your account”. Its FAQ says every Kindroid except the last one deletes at once, and the last one is scheduled for deletion after 24 hours. Subscription status and other logistical data are kept, and the legal page keeps billing records for up to 7 years. Two clauses cut the other way. All personal data may pass to a buyer in a “merger, acquisition, bankruptcy or other transaction”. The terms also give Kindroid a “perpetual” and “irrevocable” licence to content you submit, which lasts after you close your account. Our privacy comparison of eight apps puts these clauses next to the others.
Who runs Kindroid and how users rate it
Kindroid’s terms name Beautifully Incorporated, at an address on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles. Disputes go to individual arbitration under Delaware law, with a class action waiver. You can opt out by post within 30 days of accepting the terms.
The ratings split by where they come from. On 31 October 2026, the App Store showed 4.8 out of 5 from 10,423 ratings, and Google Play showed 4.3 from 26.8K reviews with over 1 million downloads. Trustpilot showed 2.6 from 21 reviews on an unclaimed profile, 57% of them 1 star, and notes that Kindroid has no history of asking for reviews. The Trustpilot complaints are about accounts and refunds:
- “My NEW account was immediately suspended for violatiing terms.” (29 October 2026)
- “After few hours I’ve asked for refund and Kindroid said NO.” (19 August 2026)
- “if you get restricted they refuse to delete your account.” (18 July 2026)
Is Kindroid right for you?
Kindroid fits if you want one long-running companion, care about chats being encrypted at rest, and will pay on the web, where Kindroid says prices are usually lower. It fits less if you wanted a free plan, want a web price before you hand over a card, or plan to switch plans on Android.
We earn a commission if you subscribe through the next two links. If you want a published price before signing up, OurDream lists $19.99 a month or $119.88 a year on its homepage, and Candy AI refunds within 24 hours if you have used 20 tokens or fewer. Our Character AI alternatives comparison covers more options.
If you try the Kindroid trial, set a reminder for day 2, because the trial turns into a paid plan on its own.
Kindroid has some of the clearest privacy terms in our AI girlfriend app rankings, but it ranks sixth, partly because its own website shows no prices.
What changed on 31 October 2026
We re-read every source. Kindroid’s US App Store listing now shows prices for every plan and add-on, so we replaced the line that said no price shows before checkout. We removed our claim that Kindroid was the only app in our privacy comparison to promise encryption at rest, because Secrets AI’s policy says the same. We added the 30 October refund and trial wording, the de-identified data clause, deletion and export details, new ratings, Trustpilot complaints and a question on exporting chats.
