The CrushOn AI alternatives closest in shape are SpicyChat and Janitor AI, which also host large libraries of user-made characters with a free tier. Nomi, Kindroid and Replika suit one long-running companion. OurDream, Candy AI and SweetDream add images to chat. We read each app’s own pricing pages and terms on 21 and 22 October 2026 and re-checked them on 31 October 2026. Every app here is for adults 18 and over.
This is desk research. We have not paid for these apps, so there are no scores. How we test explains what a paid test would add.
CrushOn AI alternatives at a glance
We earn a commission if you subscribe through links marked with a dagger (†). The other apps pay us nothing. Each “best for” label names the one published fact where that app differs most from CrushOn, and commission does not set the labels or the order.

Where CrushOn falls short on its own terms
CrushOn’s pricing page lists the reasons people move. On the free plan, “Chat History will be deleted after 7 days of inactivity”. Paid plans keep history only “during the Membership Period”. Its privacy policy says it may train AI models on character chats, though “we will not link chat contents to specific users.”
Refunds are narrow. Its terms say “We do not offer partial refunds or credits for unused time, mid-cycle cancellations, or downgrades.” CrushOn’s wiki tells Android users to download an APK by hand, though its terms also mention Google Play. You also cannot delete chat messages older than 24 hours, according to its FAQ.
On Trustpilot, crushon.ai still had a TrustScore of 1.8 from 22 reviews on 31 October 2026. Three complaints repeat:
- A $0.99 card charge to access 18+ content, reported by three reviewers: “required me to enter my full credit card details (number, expiration date, and CVV) and pay $0.99.” (20 August 2026). CrushOn’s FAQ does not mention this charge.
- Renewal billing that went wrong: “the first renewal I had on my monthly immediately charged me, dropped me down to free and left me with no updates.” (20 July 2026).
- Weak paid models: “Models are barely functional most of the time even the most expensive ones often have issues.” (1 April 2026). Our CrushOn AI overview covers its five-tier price ladder and a cancel warning in its own wiki.
How much chat memory each app publishes
Memory decides how much of a long roleplay a character keeps in view. Three apps publish a number:

CrushOn’s free 8K sits between SpicyChat’s free 4,096 tokens and Janitor AI’s free “around 9k”. Janitor’s paid janitor+ plan promises “5x more context”, and SpicyChat’s docs list up to 32,768 tokens on its top I’m All In tier. Five times about 9k is roughly 45k tokens (our arithmetic), above CrushOn’s top tier of 24K. The other apps do not state a context size on the pages we read.
Read SpicyChat’s chat licence before you move
SpicyChat is the nearest match to CrushOn on price and character library. Its cheapest plan, $5.95 a month, removes ads. Its terms also give it wide rights over what you write:

The same terms say “Users or operators of the Service may read all messages You send to the Service”. SpicyChat’s privacy policy has no training clause, so the terms are the place to look. Our privacy comparison of eight apps sets out how others handle chats and deletion.
Pick by what you used CrushOn for
- Many user-made characters on a budget: SpicyChat or Janitor AI. Our Janitor AI alternatives page covers Janitor’s outages and its janitor+ plan.
- One companion that remembers you: Nomi or Kindroid. Nomi deletes personal information about 28 days after you delete your account.
- Images alongside chat: OurDream, Candy AI or SweetDream, all of which train on chats in some form.
Stay with CrushOn if you want the most free credits
None of the other apps here publishes a free allowance as concrete as CrushOn’s 100 message credits a month, and its $5.99 Standard plan is within a few cents of SpicyChat’s cheapest. If its memory limits and chat-history rules do not bother you, switching may not save money.
Leave CrushOn without losing your characters
- Copy your character definitions by hand. CrushOn publishes no export for chats or characters, and its privacy policy only routes data requests to its support email.
- Cancel the subscription. Its terms give the path Profile, My Subscription, Manage, Cancel Subscription. The FAQ warns you to check the confirmation carefully before you pick an option that ends access immediately.
- Expect no refund for unused credits. The terms call purchases of virtual items “final and non-refundable”, and say ending the account “does not entitle You to any refund, credit or compensation”.
- Delete the account last. Open Profile, then Settings, then Delete Account. The FAQ says an active subscription can stop deletion, so cancel first. A free account also loses its chat history after 7 idle days.
What changed on 31 October 2026
We re-read every source. Kindroid’s 30 October legal page lets it use de-identified chats “for any purpose”, and its preview dropped to 15 messages in some regions. Replika’s 28 October privacy policy says it trains its own models. Nomi’s page now states only an image allowance for free accounts. We softened our Play Store line, added a best-for label per app, Trustpilot complaints, exit steps, two questions and the sources behind every row.
Later on 31 October 2026, Kindroid’s US App Store listing began showing prices, so its row now gives them instead of “shown at checkout only”.
